CSI-4 – Relationship Satisfaction Questionnaire
The short form of the Couples Satisfaction Index (CSI-4) uses four questions to capture how satisfied you are, overall, with your relationship. It is scored as a sum from 0 to 21; a score below 13.5 indicates notable relationship dissatisfaction according to the original study.
Important for interpretation
The CSI-4 is a brief screening measure with four items. It reliably separates satisfied from distressed relationships but does not differentiate finely within the satisfied range. It also reflects your personal view of the relationship — not your partner's, and not "the relationship" as an objective quantity. A single low score is a snapshot; what matters is whether it persists over weeks.
